I have been amazed at the " Not Ready For Prime-Time" software that comes with Neat Receipts. The software is the most persnickity software I've ever used. I've been using Neatreceipts/Neatworks for over 3 years. That way, if I ever get to the point where I'm fed up enough with Neatreceipts, I can easily jump ship. Since I'm not fully comfortable with Neatworks, I have taken prior years, exported them & then imported the scans into Evernote. The Paperport scans often contain sensitive info, so I keep those on my encrypted hard drive & back them up only to other encrypted hard drives or Jungle Disk (in an encrypted bucket.) But with Neatreceipts, if you scanned a one page credit card bill, NR would be hung up for the next ~7 minutes, trying to OCR the darned thing.) I don't need those OCR'd & I don't want to waste the time Neat takes to try it. (This may be less of a problem now that they have the quick scan program that will OCR while you continue to scan other receipts. But the Neatreceipts/Neatworks software was soooooo slow that I started simply using Paperport (with a Xerox Documate 510) for non-thermal receipts, bills & bank/credit card & investment statements. So.I continue to use Neatworks for thermal receipts, such as grocery stores, gasoline, restaurants, etc. The OCR software is also nice b/c it defaults the vendor, date, payment method & amount & most of the time is fairly accurate. The scanner & it's software are very good at scanning, OCR'ing & "correcting" receipts. So I have to make sure I turn that off before opening Neatworks or else it gets an error, must shut down & then spend ~15 minutes reindexing my large database.īut.when it works, it works well. The most current version I have (~2 months old) doesn't play nicely with McAfee real time scanning. Hope this helps.I just hate the thought of being in a position where I can't get Neat running & yet want to find a receipt. I do my Mother's books, so receipts from 2007 for her are tagged 2007 - Mother. I do have them in a single notebook (receipts.) Each batch is tagged according to year & person.

(I bought the upgrade in Feb 2010 & there was an upgrade issued in May.that's the one I'm using.) I don't have them nicely titled in EN, since I'm still relying upon Neatco. Also, FWIW, I'm using the latest version which is Neatworks 4.x. IIRC, I would select all receipts & then I think you can export as jpgs, one file per receipt. But I looked in EN & I have a jpg for each receipt. You're welcome! My big dog computer is still down, so I can't get into Neat.
